In one of the small reserves where I lived for several years in South Africa, there was a population of approximately 20 Giraffes. The males were both almost 6 metres tall and weighted over a tone each. The females were smaller but very brave and would protect their youngsters from any danger despite their elegance and grace. I've gotten to know them quite well as I often walked with them and they visited regularly to drink from a pond and chewed on the fresh leaves of the Marulas, Bushwillows and Acacias. No matter how often I saw them it was always a special experience watching these very unique powerful animals with their silent strength & graceful slow movements. To live close to these Giraffes was a true privilege for the unique opportunities i've had to photograph and film them without disturbing their natural behaviour, and spiritually as they allowed me to be part of their lives. I've also included other Giraffes i have had the opportunity of meeting during visits to various parks and reserves in southern Africa.
